Foreign trade date for the year 2005 has been based on 32870 export and 79860 import customs declarations and non-customs resources of information on electrical energy import and gold export. 4909 export and 2332 import declarations belong to the goods crossed through seasonal ports.

Mongolia had a foreign trade with 98 countries and as a result total turnover of foreign trade for 2005 increased by 358.4mln.USD or 19.0 percent and amounted 2249.2 mln.USD in comparison with the 2004. Import exceeded export by119.5 mln.USD and this difference decreased by32.0 mln.USD in comparison with the previous year. Total trade amounted 51.2 mln.USD in 2005 belong to the seasonal ports which equal to 2.3 percent of total trade turnover (3.1 percent of export and 1.6 percent of import).
